Garden Wildlife

Frogs, toads and newts frequent all of the ponds, newts especially like the formal circular pond at the bottom of the garden and breed there every year. Frogs seem to prefer the larger two-tiered pond, where there are buckets full of frogspawn every year.

Many variety of birds nest in the garden and feed from the bird tables and feeders.

 A squirrel

On the large Pine tree we affixed a squirrel feeding box which is kept filled with nuts just for the squirrels. This seems to keep them from wrecking the bird feeders. A rotund squirrel can often be seen frequenting the box.
Foxes are frequent visitors at night, but can occasionally be seen during the day. We’ve also had glimpses of a stoat.
